What Is Pilates? (pu-LAH-teez)

A gentle, yet effective, exercise plan that strengthens, stretches, and balances the body’s muscle groups. Benefits include increased muscle tone, flexibility, coordination, and lung capacity.

Beginners to Advanced

Pilates workouts can be tailored to any fitness level — from out-of-shape beginners to able-bodied athletes. Even those slowed down by stiff, aching muscles can benefit from the Pilates program.

Pilates focuses on the core muscles; those are the muscles found in the abdomen and lower back. Once the core muscles are strengthened, the other muscles can be exercised with less chance of injury.
